Brief History of the Church
The history of the Church of the Redeemer actually begins prior to the first services held on July 4, 1909. Early Quaker families in Longport held services in locals’ cottages and even in The Aberdeen Hotel until 1908 when Professor Joseph Remington donated the lot where you currently stand for the construction of a Protestant Episcopalian church.

The Redeemer Today
The Church of the Redeemer was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 10, 1992. As a result of the 2012 derecho storm, the building was destroyed by fire; however, it was rebuilt in an almost identical style to the way it had stood. Most notably, the stained-glass circular window could be replaced by the same company that constructed the original stained glass!
